Recently seen searches on Google analytics for SAM Broadcaster Studio I guess they were searching for PIRATED versions of it! SAM Broadcaster Studio is aimed at Terrestrial Radio stations. You can't run a Terrestrial FM radio station with SAM Broadcaster Pro because of restrictions in the software licence agreement. Even though SAM Broadcaster Pro has built in FM capabilities via a (Now Obsolete) PCI FM card Spacial have now made a slight change to the EULA so that Terrestrial radio stations can now use the Studio version. Lucky Them Eh?! The Studio version costs more than SAM Broadcaster Pro at an eye watering $699 I would Imagine Professional Terrestrial FM/AM stations use software that costs thousands of $$$ NOT some badly designed college project from 1999: The Studio version of SAM Broadcaster isn't worth the money Its exactly the same as SAM Broadcaster Pro with the word STUDIO plastered

Q: WHY do people stick with Spacial Audio software if it lets them down time after time? Recently seen Tweets from a long time user frustrated at Spacial Audio not replying to their support requests. Gaddammit! Because the evil empire (@spacial) primarily communicate via email, the resolution to my issue is essentially circling in a e-filibuster! We lose again This isn't the first time I've seen this user get frustrated with Spacial Audio. I know from experience just how awful Spacial Audio support can be. I’ve had reliability issues as well as poor to non-existent customer service I’ve had to figure most of the issues encountered on my own When I was having issues with SAM Broadcaster back in 2010 I got next to NO SUPPORT I got called names like TURD because I'd complained about how UNSTABLE I thought SAM Broadcaster software was. I visited the SAM Broadcaster page on Facebook recently and saw this post. We are dumping SAM Broadcaster in favour of RadioDJ 1) We have numerous remote DJs who want to do shows on our station and to purchase DJ Seats from Spacial Audio for them would work out very very expensive, whereas RadioDJ is FREE 2) We have had numerous problems with SAM that do not seem exclusive to us: Remote show script keeps dropping out Audio crackling when using SAM On reboot SAM will not connect to the database whether it's Firebird or MySQL After a system restart SAM won't start requiring a complete re-install of SAM Encoders stopping for no reason at all, plus various other issues. I could cope if SAM Broadcaster was free but we paid for this software Which is flaky to say the least 3) SAM keeps freezing when searching for tracks 4) RadioDJ is much more pleasing to the eye 5) RadioDJ looks & sounds much more professional

I went for a look on the Icecast forums and found some really useful information on How To Get Listed on Icecast. I had my stream up and running but it wasn't listing us on the Icecast directory. I've written a short guide to how you get listed on Icecast and InternetRadio. First you need to find this line in the configuration file <hostname>localhost</hostname> Where it says localhost you need to put either the IP or web address where your Icecast server is running from. (e.g: djgar.icecastserver.com or 216.136.201.105) If all goes to plan you should see "yp_currently_playing" in your Icecast admin which then in turn means you are listed publicly on the Icecast YP. A user on the forums was having issues getting an AAC+ Internet stream to play in RadioDJ. RadioDJ doesn't natively come bundled with the Bass AAC codec as it would cost Marius a lot of money to include that codec in his software. HOWEVER: You can play AAC+ streams in RadioDJ if you download the BASS AAC codec yourself from http://un4seen.com/ Unzip the folder. Close RadioDJ & place the bass_aac.dll file inside the bass_plugins folder inside the RadioDJ folder. Restart RadioDJ and you should now be able to playback AAC+ streams. That is literally ALL there is to it.

Just seen another post on the Spacial social media feeds from a user who was having activation problems. The Spacial Audio Support department has now told this user that they cannot find a record of their licence for SAM Broadcaster Pro Now I am told via the Help Desk, Spacial Audio has no record of my licence. Maybe Spacial Audio need a better computer database system to keep customer records better? This is NOT the first time we've heard of someone being told that Spacial had no record of them purchasing software. Some of the searches I used to see on Google analytics really did make me scratch my head at times. SAM DJ product key was a recent search made by 24 people in the same day. There's NO END to the problem of people wanting to Pirate software such as SAM DJ & SAM Broadcaster Pro Yet again I'm being forced into telling people that is absolutely NO NEED for them to pirate Spacial Audio software. There are other DJ programs out there and some like Mixxx, Virtual DJ, Trakktor & RadioDJ. Mixx and RadioDJ are both FREE programs. How do you import a Shoutcast or Icecast stream into RadioDJ? 1) Open Track import from the options menu; 2) Select track category as "Radio Shows" set a genre and subcategory; 3) Select track type as "Internet Stream"; 4) Paste the address of the server (into the path/URL box) you want to relay such as this; (e.g 184.164.135.114:8085) 5) Give it a Name from the details tab & then click import; 6) Then set an event up to load it as a track at the time you want to start relaying the stream; 7) After you have finished relaying the stream just set another event up to start playing the next track; Make sure you TICK the box Use original stream title if you want to relay the song information from the stream you are importing. I absolutely love it when I see someone new to the RadioDJ forums praising the program. I'm starting to set this nifty piece of software called RadioDJ completely to my hand and make it work for me like no other broadcasting software RadioDJ is Lean, Fast and NEVER fails! Indeed RadioDJ free radio automation software is such a stable and reliable program I can safely say hand on heart that since I started using RadioDJ software in 2010 that it hasn't failed on me while using it. Where there has been an issue Its been hardware related Disc drives or computer hardware failing has been the main culprit of any downtime Hard drives and computer peripherals don't last forever I wish they did because buying new Hard Drives and Computers are the ONLY EXPENSES I've had with RadioDJ since 2010 I've now switched over to SSD & hopefully (fingers crossed) they should last a lot longer than traditional spindle hard drives RadioDJ has handled

In my 20+ years of being into Internetradio I have tried all sorts of different radio automation software packages. I wish I could remember the name of half of the different pieces of software but here's a few... DRS 2006, SAM Broadcaster, Jazler, Raduga, Zararadio, Winamp (Plus Others) When my interest piqued for Internet radio in 1999 I tested software that was available at the time. I started out as listener at first and discovered Winamp for listening to Shoutcast stations. It was 2001 before I bought my first PC and I set out to discover what Internet radio was all about. One of the Oldies stations I'd discovered was asking for DJ's so I applied and got a weekly 3 hour show. The software I had to use was SAM Broadcaster and that went wrong so often I lost my position on the station. Wether that be encoders buffering or the program freezing the software never worked as it should. I was lucky to get any uptime with SAM Broadcaster
