My Favourite RadioDJ Feature?

Image
I've been a RadioDJ user since late 2010 after I discovered the software via a Google search. I've seen RadioDJ slowly gain popularity since 2013 & lot of users are beginning to realise how GOOD it is. If I was asked to say what my favourite feature in RadioDJ was I'd have to think about it. RadioDJ is FEATURE PACKED and has a lot more functionality than other radio automation that you can pay $$$ for. However after a lot of thought I think this is my favourite feature in RadioDJ: Custom Track Rotations which can be loaded anytime by operator or by programmed event I've NEVER had a Track Rotation Fail in RadioDJ I frequently had problems with AutoDJ with other radio playout software If you know how to program MySQL you can load tracks in the queue via SQL Query. The AutoDJ Rotation loads the Music easily and fast into the queue in RDJ. You can programme RadioDJ to have different

The Most Perfect Piece Of Music Playout Software

Image
Q: Have you ever found the most perfect piece of music playout software? I've tried LOTS of music playback software over my 20 or so years on the Internet. Winamp, Foobar, Real Player, Windows Media Player, Musicmatch Jukebox, SAM Broadcaster, SAM Party DJ Some pieces of software were OK for playing music and some of them would crash if I added a large folder of music into them. This is a Quote from a RadioDJ User: This release is the closest thing to Perfect! Certain Radio Automation Software couldn't Crossfade very well and I'd end up with a CAR CRASH transition betweeen songs. RadioDJ excels at crossfading, It has a better Cue Point editor than some paid for software. It was 2010 when I first used RadioDJ and I haven't looked back since. RadioDJ has been the bedrock of my music automation since I discovered it via a search in

13 Years Of EPIC Radio Automation

Image
How time flies its 13 years since I first found RadioDJ via a Google search. After installing and importing tracks RadioDJ just did what I needed it to do AUTOMATE MUSIC RadioDJ the only piece of software that has never let me down I had a lot of Audio play out software to try and wade through well before I found RDJ in 2010 MusicMatch Jukebox, SAM Broadcaster, Jazler, Raduga, Foobar, Zararadio, Winamp, Real Player I was sad when Yahoo decided to discontinue Music Match Jukebox (MMJB) as that had a pretty decent crossfade. I could never get Winamp to crossfade properly even with the use of plugins. The Stress I had in my 12 or so years of using SAM Broadcaster was unparalleled. I hated it when software decided to screw me over by crashing or malfunctioning without warning. I don't have ANY STRESS with RadioDJ RadioDJ makes streaming music a Pleasure NOT a Chore I was able to do Rad

Did Anyone See Where That Exception Went?

Image
On the 5th of July 2023 Marius released RadioDJ v2043 I just checked the Windows Error Logs (22/09/2023) and RadioDJ hasn't thrown an exception since the 6th of July 2023 The last exception was when Windows had issues with the NowPlaying.txt being on the C:\ drive The NowPlaying.txt is readable from within the RadioDJ folder but NOT the C:\ drive Windows Security isn't allowing the file on the ROOT of the drive Other than that RadioDJ v2043 has been stable on the Windows 10/11 machines its been upgraded on. Thats the thing I LOVE about RadioDJ once setup properly RadioDJ doesn't tend to throw exceptions. The only time I've seen bad exceptions is when the Database has crashed which is generally a RARE thing. However the RadioDJ Database is easily repaired using the Database Setup tool. I haven't had to repair my RadioDJ Database in

Radio DJ v2.0.0.6 THOUSANDS Of Downloads

Image
I checked the Download figures on the RadioDJ website recently. To say I was slightly taken aback would be an understatement I noticed that RadioDJ v2.0.0.6 had been downloaded 260,072 times & that blew me away. Now tell me RadioDJ isn't the Hottest Property on the Automation market right now I know from watching videos that RadioDJ is being used by some pretty BIG radio stations out there. Of course RadioDJ is going to be popular because its amazingly stable and RELIABLE. Lots of people are learning that RadioDJ is better than paid for radio automation suites which don't always work as advertised. Marius Vaida has anyone ever told you YOU'RE A GENIUS? Little wonder certain software companies are cutting back on their support staff. RadioDJ is the Future of Radio Automation

RadioDJ Has Come A Long Way in 10 Years

Image
Recently been sorting through photos on my computer so I could back them up to Google Drive. While going through one folder I saw this screenshot I took in 2013. I hadn't realised that it was 10 years ago that we started testing RadioDJ v1.6.3.2 one of the the first versions to use plugins. It was like a new piece of software written from the ground up by Marius. Every version has worked better than expected and the software is now much more powerful and streamlined than it was. RadioDJ now has a HUGE following and every person I speak to using the software speaks FONDLY of it. You'll notice there's hardly any Negative reviews about RadioDJ thats because its a piece of software that does what it was designed for. RadioDJ Automation Software is so feature packed it puts OTHER radio playout software in the SHADE You can see the History of the RadioDJ versions HERE

Running RadioDJ On Linux/Wine?

Image
This is a common question we've seen on the RadioDJ forums. Q: Will RadioDJ free radio automation software run under .wine on Linux? A: Not at present and yes you can quote me on that! Don't believe us then feel free to test the theory out at your own risk! If you manage to get .NET installed there is no guarantee RadioDJ will work properly on .wine RadioDJ v2.x.x requires .NET 3.5 and 4.8 Even IF the database setup tool runs and you get RadioDJ fired up the program will constantly throw up errors at you. This is what happened last time I tried running RadioDJ under .wine I used to test when I saw an update for .wine or MONO and got frustrated at the same error messages everytime. I tested again recently and couldn't even get Wine/Winetricks to install correctly on an 64bit Ubuntu Studio. Users claim to have RadioDJ running on Wine but when you ask those users HOW they did it they never come back to explain the steps required

The Input Button Is NOT A Microphone Input (RadioDJ)

Image
New users to RadioDJ seem to keep thinking that the Input button is a Microphone Button. The INPUT button never was intended as a Microphone Input and if you do try and use it you will get delay and feedback. The Input is NOT like the VOICE FX feature in other radio playout software. A great way of routing your Audio from your Microphone can be done by software such as Voicemeeter You connect your microphone to a Mixer before you send the audio to your computer via the line-in socket You can manage your Mic input via Voicemeeter which you then route to the encoding software The Voice FX feature in other software has never worked as it should Voicemeeter is the Essential Audio Superfood & It will make you sound MORE PROFESSIONAL!

Add The RadioDJ Folder To Your Exclude List (Antivirus Software)

Image
For some time now a LOT of Antivirus solutions have had issues with the RadioDJ program files. They don't appear to like the way Marius packages the the software and installer. He's obfuscating his code to make it harder for other developers to steal it There are unscrupulous developers who given a chance would steal someones code and then claim it as theirs. If your Antivirus software complains about the program files just tell it to exclude the RadioDJ program folder on the C:\ Drive. I use Windows Defender for my Antivirus and I added the RadioDJ folder to the exclude list before I installed to that folder. Windows Security>>Virus Threat Protection>>Manage settings>>Add Or Remove Exclusions and add RadioDJ to that list. While you're excluding folders and files its a probably a good idea to exclude your Music folders from being scanned. It will improve the performance of RadioDJ amongst ot

How To: Start Your Own Internet Radio Station

Image
Have you ever wondered how to start your own online Internetradio station? Its not as difficult as you'd think...To run a radio station online you need the following. A decent broadband connection minimum of 2MB upload speed A decent spec desktop computer with a decent processor 1Ghz+ & 1GB RAM will do the job. A varied and large music collection a collection of around 2500+ songs usually helps. Decent automation software you can pick some up for free. A Shoutcast or Icecast server. A mixer and a decent microphone. If your current computer isn't up to the job of streaming 24/7 then you need to invest in a new(ish) computer. You should be able to pickup a decent computer with a decent specification cheap enough from places like eBay. You'll be needing a decent radio music automation program we highly recommend RadioDJ radio playout software for this. Reasons to Use RadioDJ:

I Have Zero Stress With Radio DJ Free Radio Playout Sofware

Image
I got into Internet radio in 1999 when I tuned into a LIVE365 station when Internetradio was in its infancy. It was late 2001 before I got my own Computer and Internet connection and was able to look into Internet radio a bit more. I then set about learning about how to stream on the Internet. I lost a position on an Oldies station in 2002 because of software constantly Malfunctioning without warning. They let me go after a few weeks because I couldn't manage to do a full show even though it was software at fault. I then set about trying to setup my own Internet radio station using a Shoutcast server which I rented for £7.50 a month. Radio automation software offerings were few and far between in 2002 Winamp with DSP plugins, Streaming Audio Manager, DRS 2006 were a few of the available pieces of radio software available. Winamp isn't suitable for running a radio station it has no artist/title repeat rules

I'm FED UP With Having To Defend Myself

Image
As most of you know I happen to be the Worlds Biggest fan of RadioDJ ITS A TITLE I'M PROUD OF! RadioDJ is the most perfect piece of radio playout software and works everytime I need to use it. However I get a lot of people having a dig at me for the way I defend the program. Gary is acts in a sectarian way by defending the software tooth and nail I'm fed up with people having a POP at me everytime I go to stick up for the software. OK so I'll admit it RadioDJ isn't 100% FOOLPROOF BUT It performs better than other radio playout solutions. Some Users seem to EXPECT far too much from Marius he codes the software in his spare time and some people can't grasp that. I champion other software as well such as Voicemeeter so my posts are not always about RadioDJ Even in BETA RadioDJ software has been stable and just for the record I've pointed out the flaws with the BETA versions. Flaws have always usually been

There Is No Malware In RadioDJ

Image
Sometimes antivirus programs flag up the RadioDJ program files as suspicious. Avast, AVG, Bitdefender, Kaspersky & Norton keep deleting and quarantining files from the RadioDJ website. I had issues with AV software deleting RadioDJ a while back. I sent the RadioDJ.exe file to an antivirus company and they came back with this. Sorry, it was a false detection. It will be fixed in the next update After the next update the Antivirus Deleted the RadioDJ program files again so I binned that piece of Antivirus software off. It annoys me when Antivirus Software flags up a perfectly SAFE program as being infected when it isn't You can be rest assured there are ZERO Viruses in RadioDJ. Marius sometimes has issues with the way he packages the Installer He tries to protect his code from being stolen by other developers The AntiVirus thinks the packaged files are Infected when they aren't! Q: Do you need Antivirus softwar

Falling Like Dominos (SAM Broadcaster Pro Users)

Image
ANOTHER long time SAM Broadcaster Pro has fallen out of favour with the software. He was suffering with the Memory Exhaustion Issue I do so LOVE it when I see long time SAM Broadcaster users switch to RadioDJ. SAM Broadcaster Pro is an AWFUL piece of software and has no place in a radio studio. When Long term users of a piece of software fall out of love with it Thats when you know theres a problem! I've watched a steady Torrent of users switching from Spacial Audio software over this past few years. Infact their user base has been falling like dominos with people fed up with Spacial Audio software. The download figures for RadioDJ speak absolute volumes. RadioDJ v2.0.0.6 has been downloaded OVER 230,000 times Lots of radio stations have discovered just how stable, reliable and USEFUL RadioDJ can be once Installed and up and running. RadioDJ doesn't suffer with any CPU issues and I have certainly never witnessed

Its Really Easy To Sort Your Music Library With RadioDJ

Image
After 7 and a half years with my RadioDJ database I've decided to rebuild my song library from scratch. My SQL database hasn't crashed its just I felt like doing a rebuild. I've spent a lot of time staring at tracks manager over the past couple of days. Knowing the categories my music was previously catalogued under has made life a lot easier. You can setup and create multiple subcategories and genres. Top Tip: Whenever you make a change to any of your songs you need to take a backup this will preserve your changes. This is where RadioDJ excels compared to other expensive radio automation software Other software doesn't come with a way to backup your database data IF you manage to get your database backed up in other radio software you may just find it doesn't backup all your table data. Whereas the RadioDJ database setup tool backs up your entire database and ALL your table data.

Cash Strapped & Potless - Can't Afford Subscriptions?

Image
I know from watching broadcasting websites that Internetradio station owners don't always have endless pots of cash. SOME Radio software subscriptions can be expensive and sometimes users get taken for a ride by the company. Users buy the software then they find the support is horrible Its among one of the reasons I ditched Spacial Audio and their lacklustre software. I could never get a sensible answer on the Forums or got called rude names by one of the moderators. This is where software such as RadioDJ is miles better than a lot of the paid for automation programs. For starters RadioDJ is 100% FREE and has a great support network on the RadioDJ Community Forums Reasons to Use RadioDJ: Once installed it's stable and works for days/weeks without needing to keep an eye on it Great Music library support add as many categories & subcategories you re

If Only RadioDJ Had Been Around In 2002

Image
I've been into Internet radio and streaming for years now. It started out with me tuning into a LIVE365 Station in 1999. In that time I've spent a lot of time using and testing various radio automation solutions. Although my interest in Internet radio had started in 1999 it was 2002 before I had a Broadband connection. Radio automation software offerings back in 2002 were PANTS. You didn't have a great deal of choice. I tried Winamp with DSP plugins to try and stream but I ended up with large gaps of silence between songs so that wasn't ideal. Winamp would casually crash when you least wanted it to. An unstable DSP Plugin was usually to blame for that. Badly written Plugins were common back in Winamp's heyday! A lot of the DSP and General plugins from the Winamp website either wouldn't work or they would cause Winamp to freeze. You also had to change playlists manually and
