Boycott Russia And Russian Software (DJ SOFT RadioBoss and RadioCaster)

Because of Putin's WAR against Ukraine I'm asking people to BOYCOTT Russia and also Russian Software. NO IF's NO BUT's BOYCOTT RUSSIAN SOFTWARE If YOU have any Russian software installed I'd UNINSTALL IT NOW Businesses and individuals using Russian-owned software are at higher risk of a Russian state-backed or lone actor cyber attack I'm asking people to also Boycott DJ SOFT software: RadioBoss, Radio Logger and RadioCaster. Plus DJ Soft's RadioBoss Cloud service. Q: IS DJ SOFT really a Russian Developer? A: YES the company/author is based in St Petersburg (Despite attempts to hide their location) They took their address off their website the 1st day of the Invasion of Ukraine (That Speaks Volumes) DJ Soft's payment options should no longer work outside of Russia PayPal, MasterCard and Visa have all pulled out b

I Rely On SAM Broadcaster Pro To Make a A Living

Image
Came across a guy venting on Spacial Audio's social media feed. I bought SAM Broadcaster Pro recently I was having issues and was told to upgrade to the newest version Now I have no working SAM Broadcaster No way to contact anyone Refused support via email Give me back my money! I rely on SAM for Income No Doubt that comment will end up hidden from other users Spacial have a nasty habit of hiding negative feedback. Yet again I'm only relaying what I see on the Internet. Spacial Audio have a RAFT of unhappy fed up users in their wake. The REG KEY requirement in SAM Broadcaster keeps locking genuine users out of the software sometimes as they're just about to go LIVE. Things like that should NEVER happen with Radio Playout Software Forget paying $$$ to Spacial Audio for their broken activation servers. There is MUCH better software than SAM Broadcaster Pro now namely RadioDJ RadioDJ FREE has no activation requirements RadioDJ

I'm FED UP With Having To Defend Myself

Image
As most of you know I happen to be the Worlds Biggest fan of RadioDJ ITS A TITLE I'M PROUD OF! RadioDJ is the most perfect piece of radio playout software and works everytime I need to use it. However I get a lot of people having a dig at me for the way I defend the program. Gary is acts in a sectarian way by defending the software tooth and nail I'm fed up with people having a POP at me everytime I go to stick up for the software. OK so I'll admit it RadioDJ isn't 100% FOOLPROOF BUT It performs better than other radio playout solutions. Some Users seem to EXPECT far too much from Marius he codes the software in his spare time and some people can't grasp that. I champion other software as well such as Voicemeeter so my posts are not always about RadioDJ Even in BETA RadioDJ software has been amazingly stable and just for the record I've pointed out the flaws with the BETA versions. Flaws have always usu

Winamp Is 25 (How Time Flies)

Image
25 years ago (21 April 1997) the first version of Winamp was released by Nullsoft (Remember Them?) I discovered Winamp in 1999 when I was looking for an mp3 player on my first time using a computer running Windows 98. I was downloading music files from a website called AudioGalaxy at first even on a Dial Up connection. It was 2001 before I got my own PC running Windows XP which cost me the best part of 900 quid. In 2002 I learnt how to stream on Shoutcast along side Winamp for the music automation. Although It wasn't much KOP at automation & you had to change playlists manually PLUS it had no artist seperation rules built in. The Shoutcast DSP encoding software would regularly cut out Winamp is only good for listening to Shoutcast or playing tracks It's NOWHERE near suitable for automating an online radio station 24/7 A factor I later blamed for not attracting an

Dear Arthritis (How You Have Robbed Me)

Image
I used to walk & cycle most places and had no issues walking long distances I used to take walking for granted. I carried Record cases to/from gigs and a full record case could be heavy when packed with Singles & Albums. In 1995 I was a bar cellarman and I was throwing 22 and 11 gallon barrels around a cellar and lifting crates with NO ISSUES. In 1998 I worked in a huge cellar in the West end of London that went through over 50 barrels a week. it was 2002 when I started to realise that something wasn't right when I had a back spasm while out shopping. Back spasms can be extremely debilitating and I have to rest when they happen & theres no cure for my Spondylosis. I was diagnosed with Osteoarthrtis & Spondylosis in 2010 and I had a reasonable(ish) quality of life back then. Around the time of my Arthritis diagnosis I started usi

35 Years Out And Proud (My Gay Anniversary)

Image
In 1987 a DJ thought he was being clever at an Under 18s Disco at a Nightclub in Scunthorpe. He OUTED ME AS GAY I'm not sure IF he'd been Dared to do it by some Idiot. Either way I cannot forgive the DJ for doing it, It was cruel and unjust. After he OUTED me I got lots of hassle off straight lads in the club & I should have complained to the Manager about the DJ. One of my Female school friends offered me a lift home that night after the disco finished just so I didn't get lynched. Turned out accepting that lift home was the most sensible thing I could have done that night. I have NEVER denied who and what I am & I guess thats what got up some peoples noses. I couldn't go anywhere in my home town without being called QUEER or other abusive names by lowlife scum. I got my nose broken by a punch from behind in one attack I knew I was DIFFERENT when I was at In

Sam Broadcaster Crossfade Problems

Image
As hard as I tried I could never get SAM Broadcaster to transition smoothly between songs. I'd either end up with a few seconds of dead air or a complete car crash of a crossfade. All my files were ripped properly and volume levelled so that wasn't the issue. It happened with every version of the software from v2.7.9 through to the newer versions. So it's not just a problem confined to one version of SAM Broadcaster but every single version of it. The default settings would cut the end of songs off & jingles and station ID's would never fade/play properly. I even tried settings suggested by Festerhead on the SAM Broadcaster forums but that only made the issue worse. We think Spacial Audio ripped off a Winamp DSP plugin called SQR Crossfade to make the fadeout feature in SAM. Ok, I need a little help with cross-fading and the Gap Killer When there is a voice-track or a Station ID, SAM Broadcaster cuts off the last second of the Jingle, Station

There Is No Malware In RadioDJ

Image
Sometimes antivirus programs flag up the RadioDJ program files as suspicious. Avast, AVG, Bitdefender, Kaspersky & Norton were all deleting and quarantining files from the RadioDJ folder. I had issues with the RadioDJ.exe a while back. I sent the RadioDJ.exe file to the antivirus company and they came back with this. Sorry, it was a false detection. It will be fixed in the next update After the next update the Antivirus deleted the RadioDJ program file again so I binned that piece of antivirus software off. It annoys me when Antivirus software flags up a perfectly SAFE program as being infected when it isn't. You can be rest assured that there is ZERO Malware in RadioDJ. Marius sometimes has issues with the way he packages the Installer AntiVirus solutions think the packaged files are Infected when they aren't! Q: Do you need Antivirus software on the radio studio production machine running RadioDJ? A: There isn't any need f

Reasons Not To Use SAM Broadcaster Pro & Studio

Image
I can think of a few reasons WHY you might want to choose an alternative to  SAM Broadcaster Pro or Studio 1) Lousy Customer Support: When SAM Broadcaster goes wrong (and it will) don't expect to get much help from Spacial Audio: The Spacial support department sends users the same old canned replies without actually helping anyone. Spacial Audio like to play BIG Corporate with their small Support team that have never even used or opened the software themselves The Customer service manager is rude to users on a regular basis Even the forums and social media accounts are staffed by people who don't really care about the software. People have even taken to Social media to vent their frustrations at not getting much in the way of support. @Spacial Audio are the worst software company I have EVER come across @spacial Customer Support makes me feel more like a Victim, than a Customer @spacial su

Moderators on Forums (Stop Acting Like GOD)

Image
Recently on a Forum I visit theres been a bit of an argument over something trivial going on between a user and a Moderator. This particular Moderator keeps talking down to users like they have got some GOD given right to act that way (You KNOW who you are) The other day out of the blue the Moderator sent me a message slagging off the user they were having a spat with. I moderate on a Forum and i've never gone behind a users back slagging them off in private messages. I've certainly never talked down to another user like they were something I'd just trodden in. A moderator should only act if there's a Spam post or another user being abusive, A moderator should NEVER get High and Mighty with users. Back to the Matter in hand though: It is NEVER Acceptable to SLAG a user of a Forum off or talk behind their back! I've seen this Mod being belligerent to other users (Including me) & they seem to have real knack of pissing peop

Important: When You Make A Change In RadioDJ Backup The Database

Image
Its pretty much self explanatory... BUT IT IS IMPORTANT RadioDJ saves most of the settings in the database these days although there are some settings still taken care of by XML files. Whenever you EDIT a track be it Cue Points or Artist/Title/Album etc... You must Backup your RadioDJ using the Database Setup tool this will preserve your changes to the database. YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY DATABASE BACKUPS! Backup your database onto an external USB thumb drive is the best advice I can give. I have database backups going as far back as v2.0.0.6 Its so much easier when you have settings taken care of in the database because you can set and forget. Its also dead easy for you to transfer Radio DJ to a new machine Other well known paid for radio automation software offerings have NO way of backing up the database which is quite some FLAW. Its just another reason RadioDJ rocks as a radio automation suite N

NFT Winamp? (No Fucking Thanks)

Image
The owners of Winamp are saying they're auctioning Winamp Original Skin as an NFT The Winamp team is thrilled to announce the auctioning of Winamp Original Skin as 1/1 NFT AND the launch of Winamp Foundation! I've read up on NFT and I still don't get what they are all about... I have a plugin for Tweetdeck that blocks NFT's so I never see them. A lot of users have taken to Twitter to say how disappointed they are that Winamp have decided to go down this route. I've been using Winamp for at least 24 years & I just gave up on it. This does not in fact whip the Llama's ass Radionomy bought Winamp and Shoutcast in 2014 and haven't done a great deal with either piece of software. Sure theres been a couple of releases of Shoutcast 2.x.x but there hasn't been a lot happening on the Winamp front. Its taken them near on 8 years to get to this point and sadly their positioning has led to lots of users quitting

Falling Like Dominos (SAM Broadcaster Pro Users)

Image
ANOTHER long time SAM Broadcaster Pro has fallen out of favour with the software. He was suffering with the Memory Exhaustion Issue I do so LOVE it when I see long time SAM Broadcaster users switch to RadioDJ. SAM Broadcaster Pro is an AWFUL piece of software and has no place in a radio studio. When Long term users of a piece of software fall out of love with it. Thats when you know theres a problem! I've watched a steady Torrent of users switching from Spacial Audio software over this past few years. Infact their user base has been falling like dominos with people fed up with Spacial Audio software. The download figures for RadioDJ speak absolute volumes. RadioDJ v2.0.0.6 has been downloaded OVER 210,000 times. So many people have discovered just how stable, reliable and USEFUL RadioDJ can be once Installed and up and running. RadioDJ doesn't suffer with any CPU issues and I have certainly never witnessed a Memo

My Huge Breweriana Collection (My Other Hobby)

Image
For the past 30 years I have been an Avid collector of Breweriana (Beer Memorabilia) Beermats is where I started when my brother gave me his beermat collection in the late 80s Tegestology is the definition of the practice of collecting beermats Everytime there was a new beermat it got picked up by my dad, I have sets amongst my collection some of which are really rare. I grew up around Public Houses and Clubs so I guess thats where my love of the subject comes from. I also Collect retro Bar Fonts because back in the day a good Font could be a thing of Beauty (Art in its own right) My pump head collection started out in the 1990s when I acquired a Mansfield Bitter & Holsten Export bar font. I've since refurbished the Mansfield Pump head with some Humbrol enamel paint as the original paint was scratched and patchy. Most of my collection has been picked up by being in the right

Legends Manchester & The Outpost

Image
In the summer of 2001 a Gay night club opened in Manchester in what used to be the Rockies Manchester building on Whitworth Street. Legends was opened by Julia Grant whose name used to strike the fear of God into some people in the Gay Village. I can still hear her booming voice "Hello Luvvies" If you were a regular in Manchester's Gay Village you’ve most likely been in one of her venues or been barred by her. Julia Grant died on the 2nd January 2019 at her home. At first Legends didn't really get that many customers on Friday and Saturday nights but towards the end of 2001 it started taking off. Legends and the Hotel above were snatched off Julia Grant by a Gangster who took over Julia's venues Lock Stock and Barrel in 2002. Julia Grant was forced to leave the UK and went to live in Spain & started running a hotel (The Queens) After some
