So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish (RadioDJ Forums)

Statement: Because of ONE user who has OFFENDED ME I've decided to LOGOUT of the RadioDJ Forums. He thinks its OK to CHARGE people for help with RadioDJ (FREE) I've not taken payment for helping someone once in 12 years. I've given 12 years of my life to the RadioDJ forums but NO MORE... (Sorry Marius... You'll need another moderator) So as far as I'm concerned rather than say something I'd regret I've logged off. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish its been a fun 12 years. Its time I was concentrating on ME for once, My Arthritis is driving me insane and I'm in a LOT of Pain daily. I will still Blog when possible but on the whole my Computer wont be switched on as often.

You Won't Get Support And You Certainly WON'T Get A Refund

Image
Theres a SAM Broadcaster user kicking off on Twitter about not getting support or even a refund from Spacial Audio. Not happy with the evaluation of service, They will take your money and that's it They will answer tweets as I'm guessing they don't owe the publicity I'm unable to get a refund on a product I purchased But they will sell me another product for a 100 dollars more You can Shout you can Scream You can talk to a brick wall BUT YOU WILL NOT GET A REFUND. It says in the EULA that If you have tested the demo they assume you are satisfied. Spacial Audio's position on the subject of refunds is this: We DO NOT offer refunds because of our 14-day free trial version, which allows users to try the product for free and make sure they are satisfied with it before they buy it Even when we purcahsed SAM Broadcaster in 2010 there was a NO REFUND policy. Its why Software companies sometime SUCK and its another reason I now avoid paid f

Spacial Audio Disreputable?

Image
Spacial Audio Solutions LLC is ran and managed by people who just DON'T CARE about $$$ paying customers. I saw this tweet on Twitter a couple of years back now about Spacial Audio & it didn't surprise me to be honest. We've been trying to tell people this for years now. Once you buy software from Spacial Audio you won't get help when something goes wrong and Spacial software does go wrong. @spacial very very disappointed after 20 years of being customer Your customer service is so poor! The support team appear to send the same old canned replies that aren't usually of any help to the person having the issues. That's IF you're lucky enough to have your support ticket answered. @spacial please answer our emails, or dms, or just let us contact you somehow. please. we just want to talk Don't even bother with the support forums either they're just as bad. IF YOU cancel any Spacial Audio service keep an eye on y

Only Applies To New Purchases (Spacial Audio Black Friday)

Image
I had an email from Spacial land in my junk mailbox telling people about their Black Friday promotion. However you can only get the discounted software IF you are a new customer They've yet again excluded customers who have already purchased software from the promotion. This discount applies to SAM Software products only All SAM Cloud products are excluded from this promotion This discount applies to new purchases only and cannot be applied to existing services or renewals. This offer cannot be combined with any other promotions Are you only interested in new subscribers and don't give a crap about those of us who have bought your software year after year? Even with the discounts the software still isn't worth the $$$ Spacial Audio ask for it. Yet again Spacial Audio are sticking two fingers up to the longtime users of SAM Broadcaster If you're FED up being treated like this by Spacial then vote with your wallets. Try s

100,000 Thanks For Visting My Blog

Image
In the Summer of 2020 I had to migrate my Blog away from Wordpress after a VPS Meltdown. Linux was and still is an Alien concept to me I've forgotten more Linux commands than I ever learned. I looked around for a solution but Pricing for Blog sites with the storage I required were out of my price range and means. Then I remembered about Blogger so I set about giving my blog a new lease of life. I started the process of transfering posts from an MySQL backup to Blogger in August/September 2020 and reformatted them. it took me a while to get my Blog the way I wanted it and I'm happy with what I have achieved. In a little over 2 years my Blogger website has hit the 100,000 visitor mark It's taken a LOT of hard work to get this blog to the point it is now at. I would like to personally thank everybody who has visited my blog in the past 2 years hope you found my advice useful. I

Boycott Russian Software (DJ SOFT RadioBoss, RadioLogger and RadioCaster)

Image
Because of Putin's WAR in Ukraine I'm asking people to BOYCOTT Russian Software NO IF's NO BUT's BOYCOTT RUSSIAN SOFTWARE If YOU have any Russian software installed UNINSTALL IT NOW Russian law dictates that software companies could be obliged to infiltrate Foreign systems there are obligations on organisations to assist the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Businesses and individuals using Russian-owned software are at higher risk of a Russian state-backed or lone actor cyber attack I'm asking people to also Boycott DJ SOFT software: RadioBoss, Radio Logger and RadioCaster. Plus DJ Soft's RadioBoss Cloud service. Q: IS DJ SOFT a Russian Developer? A: YES the Physical Mailing Address is: IP Kuzmitski D.V. Prajskaya 17-9 Volgograd 400005 Russian Federation DJSOFT Took his address off his website the 1st day of the Invasion but wayback machine had i

The Input Button Is NOT A Microphone Input (RadioDJ)

Image
New users to RadioDJ seem to keep thinking that the Input button is a Microphone Button. The INPUT button never was intended as a Microphone Input and if you do try and use it you will get delay and feedback. The Input is NOT like the VOICE FX feature in other radio playout software. A great way of routing your Audio from your Microphone can be done by software such as Voicemeeter You connect your microphone to a Mixer before you send the audio to your computer via the line-in socket You can manage your Mic input via Voicemeeter which you then route to the encoding software The Voice FX feature in other software has never worked as it should Voicemeeter is the Essential Audio Superfood & It will make you sound MORE PROFESSIONAL!

You Cannot Run Multiple Instances (SAM Broadcaster Pro)

Image
One of the biggest bug bears of mine is the you cannot run multiple instances of certain radio playout software. Even if You attempted to run 2 copies of SAM Broadcaster on the same machine you'd have issues with the PC. I once attempted to run 2 copies of SAM 2.7.9 on an old XP computer 20 years ago and the machine kept freezing and crashing. One of the problems SAM suffers with is MEMORY LEAKS an issue which hasn't been addressed in over 20 years. If you run LOTS of PAL SCRIPTS your computer will be sluggish and sometimes unresponsive because of the leaks. Theres a topic on the SAM Broadcaster Forums telling you how to run multiple instances It the does state in the SAM Broadcaster EULA from 2017 that you cannot run more than 1 instance on the same PC. SAM Broadcaster is YESTERDAY'S Technology and isn't worth the $$$ Spacial Audio ask for it. Save your self the headaches of software cr

New Stable Release Of RadioDJ

Image
Marius Released an update for RadioDJ Free Radio Automation Software v2039 on the 5th October 2022. These are the changes: - Fixed metadata stream variables; - Fixed input button metadata update; - Changed watchdog error to notice when starting the next track; - Minor bug fixes; I had very few issues upgrading to the new version. Here are some Basic Upgrade instructions. 1) Download and Install RadioDJ to a fresh directory. 2) Open database setup and verify your database details. 3) Restore your database from a backup (You did take backups didn't you?) 4) On the database utils tab "select update file" there are two update options: 2006>>2038 Use this file if you were previously using RadioDJ v2.0.0.6 2037>>2038 Use this file if you were using the last Beta build v2037 4) Start Enjoying RadioDJ There have been a LOT of features and impr

Add The RadioDJ Folder To Your Exclude List (Antivirus Software)

Image
For some time now a LOT of Antivirus solutions have had issues with the RadioDJ program files. They don't appear to like the way Marius packages the the software and installer. He's obfuscating his code to make it harder for other developers to steal it There are unscrupulous developers who given a chance would steal someones code and then claim it as theirs. If your Antivirus software complains about the program files just tell it to exclude the RadioDJ program folder on the C:\ Drive. I use Windows Defender for my Antivirus and I added the RadioDJ folder to the exclude list before I installed to that folder. Windows Security>>Virus Threat Protection>>Manage settings>>Add Or Remove Exclusions and add RadioDJ to that list. While you're excluding folders and files its a probably a good idea to exclude your Music folders from being scanned. It will improve the performance of RadioDJ amongst ot

My Favourite RadioDJ Feature?

Image
I've been a RadioDJ user since late 2010 after I discovered the software via a Google search. I've seen RadioDJ gain popularity this past 5 years a lot of people are beginning to realise how great it is. If I was asked to say what my favourite feature in RadioDJ was I'd have to think about it. RadioDJ is FEATURE packed and has a lot more functionality than other radio automation that you can pay $$$ for. However after a lot of thought I think this is my favourite feature in RadioDJ: Custom Song Rotations which can be loaded anytime by operator or by programmed event I've NEVER had a track rotation fail in RadioDJ since I started using the software I frequently had problems with AutoDJ with other radio playout software. If you know how to program MySQL you can load tracks in the queue via SQL Query. The AutoDJ Rotation loads the Music easily and fast into the queue in RDJ. You can pr

Storing RadioDJ Backups Safely & Securely (Cloud Storage)

Image
I recently tried to help a RadioDJ user who had been flooded out recently in the USA. When I asked if he's been taking daily backups he said he hadn't. He's had to start over again from scratch I feel his pain I had that problem frequently with other software. Its a GOOD IDEA if you backup your RadioDJ SQL database to a Cloud storage site You know Just incase the worst happens to your computer like a flood. I have Google Drive monitoring folders so as soon as I take a backup it gets uploaded to the server. This is why backing up your database to a "safe" location is Important I hope the user who wasn't backing up his RadioDJ database is now doing so. Your database holds a LOT of information about you song library and its structure which makes restoring it a Piece of cake. Use the database setup tool to backup set an hour (24 hour clock) set a folder and its that folder you backup to the cloud. Its

I Guess It Leaves Me With NO Other Option (SAM DJ)

Image
I look at the Spacial Audio SAM Broadcaster/SAM DJ forums regularly. I witnessed a post from a user whom it appears is having subscription issues with SAM DJ (Formerly SAM PARTY DJ) I guess it leaves me with no other option then. Seeing that I paid for my copy of Sam DJ I really feel cheated because I never expected Spacial Audio to be so Deceptive This is not the first time Spacial Audio have been called out for being SHYSTERS The subscription model that Spacial Audio use is AWFUL at best and the activation servers keep locking genuine users out. I don't like software that has online activation requirements or keys. This user could do worse than use RadioDJ it has a better crossfade & stability than SAM DJ. IF I were still doing discos I'd probably be using RadioDJ to run my set with. There is better software than SAM DJ well better than anything SPACIAL AUDIO CODE. 1) Mixxx (FREE) 2) Virtual DJ 3) Traktor

Promise Of A New Winamp? (5.91 RC Available)

Image
I was alerted to fact the Winamp website had changed this week. Seems they've finally decided to do something with Winamp after an 8+ year Hiatus. There been lots of discussion on the Winamp Forums about this news. I think personally the Good Ship Winamp sailed years ago. Even if they do upgrade Winamp I reckon its only going to be a shadow of its former self. It was the 20th Dec 2013 when AOL shut down Winamp and Shoutcast. Radionomy (Now Shoutcast) bought the rights to the software from AOL in 2014. I might try the new Winamp but I won't go beyond testing it as I now use RadioDJ. Update May 24th 2022: This was posted on the forums by DJ Egg Winamp 6 will be more like a continuation of WAFA but a cross-platform app for Android, iOS, web Winamp 5 for Windows is still an ongoing project We've now got a whole new development team! The biggest job of all was to get the Winamp 5 project ported over f

How To: Start Your Own Internet Radio Station

Image
Have you ever wondered how to start your own online Internetradio station? Its not as difficult as you'd think...To run a radio station online you need the following. A decent broadband connection minimum of 2MB upload speed A decent spec desktop computer with a decent processor 1Ghz+ & 1GB RAM will do the job. A varied and large music collection a collection of around 2500+ songs usually helps. Decent automation software you can pick some up for free. A Shoutcast or Icecast server. A mixer and a decent microphone. If your current computer isn't up to the job of streaming 24/7 then you need to invest in a new(ish) computer. You should be able to pickup a decent computer with a decent specification cheap enough from places like eBay. You'll be needing a decent radio music automation program we highly recommend RadioDJ radio playout software for this. No activations – No contracts - No keys – No hidden fees – No catches

I Have Zero Stress With Radio DJ Free Radio Playout Sofware

Image
I got into Internet radio in 1999 when I tuned into a LIVE365 station when Internetradio was in its infancy. It was late 2001 before I got my own Computer and Internet connection and was able to look into Internet radio a bit more. I then set about learning about how to stream on the Internet. I lost a position on an Oldies station in 2002 because of software constantly Malfunctioning without warning. They let me go after a few weeks because I couldn't manage to do a full show even though it was software at fault. I then set about trying to setup my own Internet radio station using a Shoutcast server which I rented for £7.50 a month. Radio automation software offerings were few and far between in 2002 Winamp with DSP plugins, Streaming Audio Manager, DRS 2006 were a few of the available pieces of radio software available. Winamp isn't suitable for running a radio station it has no artist/title repeat rules

I Cannot See The Point In Winamp Anymore

Image
News broke this week that there will be a Winamp 5.9 coming out at some point. Winamp 5.9 will be released soon Winamp 5 for Windows is still an ongoing project We've now got a whole new development team The refactoring process is still on the way but its almost complete Its taken over 8 years to get to this point Winamp has laid unforgotten for a long time now and doesn't have the same fan base it once had. Technology has moved on there are better audio players now Winamp is irrelvant tarnished yesterdays TECH This was posted by a Dev on the Winamp Forums: We can't use 5.666 5.666 includes software/libraries/codecs from Gracenote, Sonic, Fraunhofer & more which were exclusively licensed to AOL So 5.666 is basically illegal (for us to use) So Winamp 5.9 will indeed be a different beast to the orginal Winamp There are a few DIE hard Winamp fans trying to keep it alive but even with fancy Plugins a

I Rely On SAM Broadcaster Pro To Make a A Living

Image
Came across a guy venting on Spacial Audio's social media feed. I bought SAM Broadcaster Pro recently I was having issues and was told to upgrade to the newest version Now I have no working SAM Broadcaster No way to contact anyone Refused support via email Give me back my money! I rely on SAM for Income No Doubt that comment will end up hidden from other users Spacial have a nasty habit of hiding negative feedback. Then theres this recent comment on the SAM Broadcaster Forums. I am having random problems with SAM Broadcaster freezing Along with "This program has crashed press OK" messages Yet again I'm only relaying what I see on the Internet. Spacial Audio have a RAFT of unhappy fed up users in their wake. The Activation requirement in SAM Broadcaster keeps locking genuine licenced users out of the software as they're just about to go LIVE. Things like that should NEVER happen with Radio Playout Software Forget paying $$

I'm FED UP With Having To Defend Myself

Image
As most of you know I happen to be the Worlds Biggest fan of RadioDJ ITS A TITLE I'M PROUD OF! RadioDJ is the most perfect piece of radio playout software and works everytime I need to use it. However I get a lot of people having a dig at me for the way I defend the program. Gary is acts in a sectarian way by defending the software tooth and nail I'm fed up with people having a POP at me everytime I go to stick up for the software. OK so I'll admit it RadioDJ isn't 100% FOOLPROOF BUT It performs better than other radio playout solutions. Some Users seem to EXPECT far too much from Marius he codes the software in his spare time and some people can't grasp that. I champion other software as well such as Voicemeeter so my posts are not always about RadioDJ Even in BETA RadioDJ software has been stable and just for the record I've pointed out the flaws with the BETA versions. Flaws have always usually been

Winamp Is 25 (How Time Flies)

Image
25 years ago (21 April 1997) the first version of Winamp was released by Nullsoft (Remember Them?) I discovered Winamp in 1999 when I was looking for an mp3 player on my first time using a computer running Windows 98. I was downloading music files from a website called AudioGalaxy at first even on a Dial Up connection. It was 2001 before I got my own PC running Windows XP which cost me the best part of 900 quid. In 2002 I learnt how to stream on Shoutcast along side Winamp for the music automation. Although It wasn't much KOP at automation & you had to change playlists manually PLUS it had no artist seperation rules built in. The Shoutcast DSP encoding software would regularly cut out Winamp is only good for listening to Shoutcast or playing tracks It's NOWHERE near suitable for automating an online radio station 24/7 A factor I later blamed for not attracting an

Dear Arthritis (How You Have Robbed Me)

Image
I used to walk & cycle most places and had no issues walking long distances I used to take walking for granted. I carried Record cases to/from gigs and a full record case could be heavy when packed with Singles & Albums. In 1995 I was a bar cellarman and I was throwing 22 and 11 gallon barrels around a cellar and lifting crates with NO ISSUES. In 1998 I worked in a huge cellar in the West end of London that went through over 50 barrels a week. it was 2002 when I started to realise that something wasn't right when I had a back spasm while out shopping. Back spasms can be extremely debilitating and I have to rest when they happen & theres no cure for my Spondylosis. I was diagnosed with Osteoarthrtis & Spondylosis in 2010 and I had a reasonable(ish) quality of life back then. Around the time of my Arthritis diagnosis I started usi
