Breakaway One Pipeline Windows 10 Issues (Virtual Audio Cables)

Image
For about a week now I've been trying to get to the bottom of Audio GREMLINS on Windows 10 I was trying to record stuff with Audacity the second I hit record the audio would stutter or drag. I tried with other recording software and encountered the same problem. I have to say this problem stumped me slightly at first. As the issue was happening on seperate computers (8GB 16GB 32GB) I had to start narrowing down suspects. Then I wondered if it was the audio drivers but updating them made no difference. I'd even gone as far as reinstalling Windows 10 on one computer. Then I decided to take a look at the Virtual Audio Cables, I uninstalled them, Rebooted and tried again with other VAC software. BINGO! thats where the problem was with the virtual audio driver. Breakaway One Pipeline has worked OK for the past few years but alas since the latest feature update on Windows 10 its bro

Is There A Way to Get Metadata From SAM Cast?

Image
A user on a forum was looking to get the now playing information into SAM Cast so his listeners knew what he was playing. I tried and tried and failed in the past to get now playing metadata into the streams from SAMCast formerly Simplecast. There are users who claim to have title streaming working but when I follow their instructions it still doesn't want to work. This was a post by a user on the Spacial Audio Forums Having paid for Sam Cast I was determined to make title streaming work I now realise that it won't The File Poller application still didn't read or update metadata from a file The user on the forums stated that he's tried everything he can think of including trying to use Serial Ports. SamCast title encoding won't work. I tried installing it on the same PC as RadioDJ as well as a serial cable from the Radio DJ PC to the SamCast PC The stand alone encoders I promote read text files to stream the now playing metadata from soft

Important: Turn Off Windows Sounds And Other Audio Settings

Image
I quite often see new DJ's asking how they stop the sounds from their PC going over onto their stream. This is another good question & it's really quite simple to fix. You need to right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and choose "Sounds" or use Control Panel>Sound Right click on the sound output you use and choose properties. The sounds tab is where you need to be. In the drop down menu choose "No Sounds" and click apply then you shouldn't hear Windows sounds over your audio. There is another audio setting you should change 1) Find your soundcard in the list of sound devices and right click choose properties. 2) Under the Advanced tab uncheck the tick boxes under exclusive mode and click Apply. TIP: Also do the same for your default recording device and/or Virtual Audio Cables. 3) Under the Communications tab you need to set it to "Do Nothing" Most settings

Make your Station POP! With SAM Broadcaster Pro?

Image
Seen a couple of posts on social media where users claim you can make your radio station sound great with SAM Broadcaster Pro REALLY? I don't think so somehow! I used SAM Broadcaster for over 10 years and was frustrated time and again by audio distortion. My music files were ripped at the same audio levels and bitrates but despite this my music sounded CRAP in SAMBC. You CANNOT make your station POP with SAM Broadcaster as the audio output is AWFUL and amateurish at best. The last thing YOU need as a DJ is piss poor sounding audio your listeners will tune out if it doesn't sound right. It didn't matter what sound settings I tried my stream always sounded piss poor with SAM Broadcaster The audio quality from the bass sound engine really does make RadioDJ sound PROFESSIONAL. I can play different genres of music through RadioDJ & everything sounds GREAT with the above settings. Download RadioDJ and install it and you should not

RadioDJ Sounds Wonderful (Professional Audio Output)

Image
I'm testing streaming codecs in Sound Empire Caster and it doesn't matter what bitrate I stream at the audio from RadioDJ sounds Wonderful. I've ran 3 different tests on an Icecast server. Streaming out in 64K OGG/48K AAC+/64K OPUS and all the streams sounded amazing. Sadly the OPUS stream encoded by MB Recaster kept cutting out on song change which was a bit annoying. The Audio quality from RadioDJ when you have properly ripped files can be amazing. I couldn't get this sort of audio quality from other radio playout software I wonder why. I found software such as Zararadio made everything sound awful. The AGC & EQ in SAM Broadcaster makes everything sound distorted. You cannot get a professional sound from some software that often costs $$$ I'm so glad I discovered Radio DJ when I did in 2010 I found it had great programmed audio processing from the get go.

Why Can't I Use DSP Plugins With RadioDJ 2.x.x.x

Image
Regular users of RadioDJ will know that version 1.8.2 used to support plugins made by other users. One of those Plugins written by SnowHow supported the use of certain DSP plugins within RadioDJ. In RadioDJ version 2.x.x the plugin structure changed and OLD plugins weren't supported as they had been in version 1.8.2 HOWEVER If you really need a DSP (digital signal processor) plugin to enhance your sound you can do it from within Sound Empire Caster Sound Empire Caster supports the use of DSP plugins. You need to place the .dll and .xml files into the main SEC program folder and you should then have access to that DSP after a restart Highlight The DSP you want to use and use the arrows to move it into the right side panel. TIP: Click SAVE so it remembers the plugin all the time. Sound Empire Caster shouldn't have issues with the DSP of Stereotool I've only heard GOOD THINGS from users about Sound Empire Caster.

Virtual Audio Cables (Virtual Sound Card)

Image
Sometimes Windows Updates can do strange things to your audio and sometimes they can break your soundcard. I've had issues with Windows audio on and off for years even now trying to change sound settings I get grief and have to reboot the PC. This is where Virtual Audio can help. I don't appear to have many issues with Virtual Audio cables. I can connect RadioDJ to one of the pipelines and also connect the encoding software to that cable and I get flawless audio streaming. Update January 2022: The Breakaway Pipleline download has now been taken down It would appear that the Breakaway one Virtual Audio cables don't work well on Windows 10 after the latest feature update. They were causing my audio to cut out and stutter. Breakaway Pipline hasn't been updated since 2018. My recommendation is that you uninstall it from your computer. This is the Virtual Audio Cable I now reco

Frustration At Audio Distortion (Sam Broadcaster Pro)

Image
A long time user of SAM Broadcaster is complaining about really bad distortion on his stream. I get a distorted audio stream with SAM Broadcaster Pro I searched the forum and couldn't find any conclusive troubleshooting on the topic I have to think whether SAM Broadcaster is right for our station anymore I was NEVER able to get a decent quality professional sound in SAM Broadcaster When will you exchange that lousy and terrible sound output with professional Audio as used on regular Radio (Web) Stations? Even using DSP plugins such as Stereo tool I would always end up with distorted audio. This is not the first time I've done a post about the terrible audio quality in SAM Broadcaster I tested a recent version of SAM Broadcaster and thought the audio quality was poor compared to RadioDJ. Baffled, I have been using Sam Broadcaster for many years There is a Click or Clunk sound when I start a track playing In the years I&#

RadioDJ Crossfade Settings

Image
With music automation software you would expect a smooth crossfade/transition between songs wouldn't you? This is another area where RadioDJ seems to EXCEL The transition between songs is amazing even with songs that have sudden endings Everything I've thrown at RadioDJ has played and crossfaded as it should. I currently use these settings for crossfading in RadioDJ Mixer buffer is on the first screen on the options menu. Mixer Buffer = 3 The Mixing thresholds are under the AutoDJ tab. Start Threshold = -25 db Mix Threshold = -15 db End Threshold = -28 db My fadeout duration has been set at 3900ms for a few years now and always fades tracks rather well. It's rare you have silence between tracks with RadioDJ No activations – No contracts - No keys – No hidden fees - No spyware – No catches How To Install RadioDJ Silence between tracks and CAR CRASH crossfades happened regularly with other well known playout s

RadioDJ And Its Magic Crossfade

Image
I'm sat here surfing the web & RadioDJ is playing away in the background doing amazing crossfades between songs and jingles. The crossfading in RadioDJ is just another reason to LOVE the software I'm happy I've found the most perfect piece of audio playback software. If only technology had been this advanced in the 1980s I wouldn't have a bad back from carrying boxes of Vinyl Most of the DJ automation software I tried out back in 1999/2000 was a nightmare to work with in all honesty Some of the DJ software offerings 20+ years ago were so bad they would would crash if you tried adding a large library of songs. I tried Winamp 2.9 and it was OK as a media player but wasn't ideal for doing DJ work with, Winamp struggled to crossfade smoothly between tracks even with the use of DSP Crossfading plugins. Then I discovered a program called MusicMatch Jukebox which at the time was the best audio player available. It had a reasona

How to Record Stuff: Audacity (FREE Audio Editor)

Image
Audacity is a free to use audio editor most DJ’s use it along side other software to produce radio shows. I discovered Audacity a long time ago and use it nearly everyday it performs really well and beats some of the paid for audio editing programs. Audacity can record live audio through a microphone or mixer or digitise recordings from other media. Audacity can also capture streaming audio directly from your computer. (Windows sound settings permitting) You can download Audacity Here It also has a plethora of plugins available for audio editing. Like all software it may take you time to learn how it works but the learning curve will all be worth it. It should help make your recordings streamlined and professional. Beware people are trying to sell copies of Audacity on @ebay Audacity is a FREE audio editing tool If you've been asked to pay money for Audacity then more FOOL YOU! You should use Google before you buy things! I'm amazed these

Sound Empire Caster (Stand Alone Encoder)

Image
This is a standalone encoder that recently came to my attention a few years back now. Coded by a developer from Ukraine. In my tests SEC held up for 4 weeks and was only taken offline for Windows Updates. I've heard nothing but good things about the stability of the software it streams as a good encoding solution should. SE Caster is a perfect encoder that's very stable, lightweight and easy to configure There aren't many places to configure it if you've used a program with built in encoders you shouldn't have any problems. Its no more difficult to configure a standalone encoder than it is to configure a built in encoder. Sound Empire Caster 1.1.5 Sound Empire Caster 1.1.6 Sound Empire Caster 1.2.7 Sound Empire Caster 1.2.8 Unzip the program folder and place on the C:\ drive outside of the program folder. Sound Empire Caster works on Windows 11 Sound Empire supports the use o

Voicemeeter Virtual Audio Mixing Console (The Essential Audio Superfood)

Image
VoiceMeeter The Essential Audio Superfood Voicemeeter is a virtual audio mixer which will make your audio sound Professional Voicemeeter is great for channeling audio through Voicemeeter can capture audio from your Microphone which makes the VoiceFX, Microphone or Input button in certain pieces of radio software redundant Here's another video on using 2 Microphones with VoiceMeeter You Can find out more and by downloading Voicemeeter HERE I'd be lost without Voicemeter I use it daily to route audio

My Microphone Does Not Work (Sam Broadcaster Pro)

Image
Anyone who has ever used SAM Broadcaster can attest to how awful the built in VoiceFX feature can be when it doesn't work as advertised. My Microphone does not work within SAM Broadcaster Every time I turn the Microphone on and off again in the Voice FX panel It will not work again the next time and that is clearly an issue I tried and failed on Several occasions to get the Voice FX working in SAM Broadcaster when I first started using the software. Like the user quoted above it would work then it wouldn't and along with other annoying sound issues it became tiresome. Even when it did work you didn't sound great through it. Having Mic latency with SAM Broadcaster Pro & it's always been this way The audio was flaky at best even if you had a decent microphone routed through a mixing desk first. Users suffering with this issue really should look at other solutions There are several great programs out there for better vocals an

RadioDJ Sound Settings (Built In Audio Processing)

Image
I've used RadioDJ as my music automation solution since late 2010. The one GREAT thing about RadioDJ is: Once you nail the settings of the built in audio processing everything will sound amazing. A user had this to say on the forums. We tested RadioDJ and it gave us the playout sound we wanted by default I've tried all sorts of settings and configurations on the processor plugin it was all trial and error. These are the settings I've used for a while in RadioDJ From RadioDJ v2.0.2.0 (beta) You can now disable and enable different parts of the audio plugin. I'm pleasantly surprised by how great the music sounds with just the compressor and stereo widening. A user posted on the RadioDJ forums recently that he was using my configuration with the audio. Sound quality from RadioDJ is great being able to adjust the audio gain is a big plus side Running DJ GaryBaldy's settings the crossovers are how I want them. Then there are all t

Sam Broadcaster Bad Audio Processing (Distorted Audio)

Image
Recently searched through Audiorealm and started tuning into a few random radio stations. Some of them sounded OK(ish) & Some of them did not. The reason for the poor distorted audio quality on some of the stations was immediately clear. They were using badly ripped files or the sound processing in SAM Broadcaster Pro wasn't configured they sounded Distorted You know a SAM Broadcaster station when you come across one The badly coded website or #audiorealm on the Shoutcast server page gives it away I could never get a decent sound out of SAM Broadcaster even with the built in sound processing. Hey Spacial when will you exchange that lousy and terrible sound output with Professional Audio as used on regular Radio (Web) Stations? We think the sound processing in SAM is a rehash of a Winamp plugin called SoundSolution. Last time I tested the DSP version of Sound Solution it crashed and locked up the computer running RadioDJ. The audio would never s

Mp3Gain (Audio leveling tool)

Image
When you convert CDs to mp3 do you sometimes notice they are ripped at different volume levels? Then you need mp3gain a program to volume level files. This handy download can volume level all of the .mp3 files in your music library, without affecting the original quality! Just unzip the download and install the .exe file as you would any other Windows program. The default volume level is usually 89.0db we recommend you leave it at that. If you have a large mp3 library it may take a while to scan and volume level all your tracks. After your tracks are all volume levelled you should notice your music audio output is always at a constant level rather than one file being too loud and another quiet. P.S: You may find it runs slow on Windows 10 There isn't a lot we can do about that... Please Note: This version of mp3gain is NOT connected to another piece of software calling itself mp3gainPro. The version supplied from this website is the free version. Note: All downl
