Sam Broadcaster Crossfade Problems

Image
As hard as I tried I could never get SAM Broadcaster to transition smoothly between songs. I'd either end up with a few seconds of dead air or a complete car crash of a crossfade. All my files were ripped properly and volume levelled so that wasn't the issue. It happened with every version of the software from v2.7.9 through to the newer versions. So it's not just a problem confined to one version of SAM Broadcaster but every single version of it. The default settings would cut the end of songs off & jingles and station ID's would never fade/play properly. I even tried settings suggested by Festerhead on the SAM Broadcaster forums but that only made the issue worse. We think Spacial Audio ripped off a Winamp DSP plugin called SQR Crossfade to make the fadeout feature in SAM. I need a little help with cross-fading when there is a voice-track or Station ID SAM Broadcaster cuts off the last second of the track Where would I deal with that? Can

RadioDJ Crossfade Settings

Image
With music automation software you would expect a smooth crossfade/transition between songs wouldn't you? This is another area where RadioDJ seems to EXCEL The transition between songs is amazing even with songs that have sudden endings Everything I've thrown at RadioDJ has played and crossfaded as it should. I currently use these settings for crossfading in RadioDJ Mixer buffer is on the first screen on the options menu. Mixer Buffer = 3 The Mixing thresholds are under the AutoDJ tab. Start Threshold = -25 db Mix Threshold = -15 db End Threshold = -28 db My fadeout duration has been set at 3900ms for a few years now and always fades tracks rather well. It's rare you have silence between tracks with RadioDJ Reasons to Use RadioDJ: Once installed it's stable and works for days/weeks without needing to keep an eye on it Great Music library support add as many categ

Nifty Piece Of Software Called RadioDJ

Image
I absolutely love it when I see someone new to the RadioDJ forums praising the program. I'm starting to set this nifty piece of software called RadioDJ completely to my hand and make it work for me like no other broadcasting software RadioDJ is Lean, Fast and NEVER fails! Indeed RadioDJ free radio automation software is such a stable and reliable program I can safely say hand on heart that since I started using RadioDJ software in 2010 that it hasn't failed on me while using it. Where there has been an issue Its been hardware related Disc drives or computer hardware failing has been the main culprit of any downtime Hard drives and computer peripherals don't last forever I wish they did because buying new Hard Drives and Computers are the ONLY EXPENSES I've had with RadioDJ since 2010 I've now switched over to SSD & hopefully (fingers crossed) they should last a lot longer than traditional spindle hard drives RadioDJ has handled

RadioDJ Track Rotations (AutoDJ Selector)

Image
So you've installed RadioDJ and imported your music and you're stuck as to what track rotations are let me try and explain a little. Track Rotations in RadioDJ selects the music only from the categories you tell it to choose from, You can have multiple rotations for different moods, just don't forget to save the rotation once you've created it. Also make sure when creating a rotation item that the repeat rules boxes are checked so you don't have any repetition in songs. Important: Try not to apply repeat rules to Sweepers, Jingles or Station ID's You need them to be available for the rotation to load into the queue. I loaded my jingles by Least recently played and sometimes Random when I ran a backup stream for another radio station about 10 years ago. Example: You pick your rotation items by clicking on + button you can choose from four different options. You can duplicate an item in your rotation by using the duplicate button.

Real DJs don't use Winamp

Image
Saw a topic a topic on the Winamp forums where someone said they were using Winamp to DJ at parties. OMG! Are you seriously attempting to use Winamp To DJ with? Man I bet your DJ sets suck the life and soul out of a party! Another user replied to the post with this: Real DJs don't use Winamp to DJ it doesn't crossfade properly Indeed DJ's don't use Winamp to produce mixes or radio shows. We use other software that is built for the job. I attempted to use Winamp over 20 years ago There wasn't much choice of radio playout software and it just didn't do the job I wanted it to do. I would regularly hear it repeating artists & songs, The crossfading between tracks in Winamp was just awful. I'd end up with dead air of around 3-5 seconds between tracks. SAM Broadcaster didn't fare much better... But that's another story. Winamp is only any good as a media player for listening to Shoutcast streams. While Winamp m
