Sam Broadcaster Pro EULA Licence

Image
Did you ever wonder what restrictions that Spacial Audio place on users when it comes to using SAM Broadcaster Pro? Spacial Audio updated their EULA (End User Licence Agreement) on the 10th of April 2017 It would appear Spacial Audio want to Dictate what you can and cant do with their software in the SAM Broadcaster Pro EULA Licence The Software may not be used in a manner that infringes, violates or misappropriates the rights of any third party; in a manner that violates any applicable local, state or national laws; in a manner that violates the privacy of any person or entity, or in a manner that is otherwise illegal or promotes illegal activities, including, without limitation anything that may be considered obscene, libellous, defamatory, or otherwise malicious or harmful to any person or entity So if you're thinking of using the software to stream an unlicensed station (Pirate Radio) then you may not use SAM Broadcaster Pro You can only run 1 station per licenc

SAM Broadcaster Won’t Open After Reboot

Image
I recently saw a post on the Spacial Audio SAM Broadcaster Forums SAM Broadcaster Pro won't open after reboot! When I restart my computer SAM Broadcaster won’t open SAM Broadcaster going wrong is nothing new its been an issue for over 20 years. In the past I've had to uninstall and reinstall SAM Broadcaster after the program went wrong. What causes SAM Broadcaster and it’s program files/database structure to become corrupted during a reboot of the computer is anyone’s guess. This has happened on different operating systems from XP to Windows 10 Another SAM user said it turned out to be an issue with the core or GUI XML being corrupted by an improper shutdown of the software. The SAM Broadcaster database tables became corrupted after a reboot of the computer which required a reinstall of the software. I was having to reinstall SAM Broadcaster at least once a Week The problem was even worse if your PC was s

Why Is Sam Broadcaster Pro So Expensive?

Image
SAM Broadcaster in its various flavours (Pro/Studio) can cost between $299 and $699 I could understand the price tags if SAM was worth buying but it isn't its a really awful unstable piece of software. SAM Broadcaster was first developed in 1999 by some hobby broadcasters SAM still suffers from the same errors and issues it had when v1.3 came out I tried using SAM Broadcaster way back in 1999 when I was first looking for audio playback software. You couldn't add a huge folder of music into version 1.3 the software it would freeze and then crash if you tried to do that. When SAM v2.x.x came out with a redesigned GUI I thought it wasn't worth the price tag they were charging ($199) Stability isn't something you get from SAM Broadcaster Pro it crashes and burns frequently. SAM Broadcaster had so much promise but the developers behind the software became lazy. They don't seem interested in fixing the bugs or improvi

Sorry That You Are Having Trouble With The Application (Sam Broadcaster Pro)

Image
Saw a Blog post from Spacial Audio. Seems like they've finally acknowledged there are major flaws with SAM Broadcaster We are sorry that you are having trouble with the application and we want to help you resolve this problem as swiftly as possible In order to do achieve this, the more specific information you can provide the more likely it is we can solve the problem quickly The blog post goes onto give examples of common errors that SAM Broadcaster throws up every now and then. If you've used SAM Broadcaster for a long time you will no doubt have ran into a serious violation type error every now and then. Don't say you haven't because that would be a big fat hairy LIE! So why the sudden change of attitude by Spacial Audio? They've gone from years of burying their heads in the sand to suddenly wanting to fix problems within their software. The program still has the same glaring bugs it had way back in 200

SAM Broadcaster Studio

Image
Recently seen searches on Google analytics for SAM Broadcaster Studio I guess they were searching for PIRATED versions of it! SAM Broadcaster Studio is aimed at Terrestrial Radio stations. You can't run a Terrestrial FM radio station with SAM Broadcaster Pro because of restrictions in the software licence agreement. Even though SAM Broadcaster Pro has built in FM capabilities via a (Now Obsolete) PCI FM card Spacial have now made a slight change to the EULA so that Terrestrial radio stations can now use the Studio version. Lucky Them Eh?! The Studio version costs more than SAM Broadcaster Pro at an eye watering $699 I would Imagine Professional Terrestrial FM/AM stations use software that costs thousands of $$$ NOT some badly designed college project from 1999: The Studio version of SAM Broadcaster isn't worth the money Its exactly the same as SAM Broadcaster Pro with the word STUDIO plastered

You Shouldn't Have To Keep Reinstalling Software (SAM Broadcaster Pro)

Image
One of the BIGGEST bug bears I have about SAM Broadcaster Pro is that when something goes wrong it goes BADLY WRONG. When SAM goes Boom & Bust you have to prat around uninstalling and reinstalling the software just to get it to function. Almost ready to go LIVE again SAM Broadcaster reinstalled Database rolling and adding music files & Jingles AGAIN I witnessed SAM Broadcaster do a disappering act many a time in my 10+ years of using the software. Because SAM Broadcaster Pro doesn't come with a database backup tool you have rebuild your song database and categories. Googling the error suggests a Delphi problem SAM is written in Delphi The fact it is still happening in the 2021 versions should be sounding alarm bells to anyone thinking of purchasing SAM. This little nugget was recently shared on the Spacial forums: SAM Broadcaster Pro crashed after four hours of use Just for the record the record Uptime for Radio

SAM Broadcaster Pro How Good Is It?

Image
This was a question I saw askd by someone on a Forum. Q: SAM Broadcaster Pro: How good is it? A: IMHO It's not a very good piece of software & it's not worth the $299 & $699 pricetags SAM Broadcaster can be extremely tricky for a novice to setup it gets confusing having 5 different database options on first run. Firebird is the worst of the database options and is flaky and unstable. Firebird can only hold around 50,000 tracks in its database so no good if you have a large library (100K+) of songs I installed SAM Broadcaster with the help of a software engineer We used the included Firebird server That worked well for a few days then SAM wouldn't restart I'd have to start over again reinstalling from scratch SAM fails to the point where it crashes at least once a day Its taking ALL the fun out of this We often hear users reporting crashing/activation issues with SAM Broadcaster often taking stations off air for a few

Frustration At Audio Distortion (Sam Broadcaster Pro)

Image
A long time user of SAM Broadcaster is complaining about really bad distortion on his stream. I get a distorted audio stream with SAM Broadcaster Pro I searched the forum and couldn't find any conclusive troubleshooting on the topic I have to think whether SAM Broadcaster is right for our station anymore I was NEVER able to get a decent quality professional sound in SAM Broadcaster When will you exchange that lousy and terrible sound output with professional Audio as used on regular Radio (Web) Stations? Even using DSP plugins such as Stereo tool I would always end up with distorted audio. This is not the first time I've done a post about the terrible audio quality in SAM Broadcaster I tested a recent version of SAM Broadcaster and thought the audio quality was poor compared to RadioDJ. Baffled, I have been using Sam Broadcaster for many years There is a Click or Clunk sound when I start a track playing In the years I&#

Dumping Sam Broadcaster For RadioDJ

Image
I visited the SAM Broadcaster page on Facebook recently and saw this post. We are dumping SAM Broadcaster in favour of RadioDJ 1) We have numerous remote DJs who want to do shows on our station and to purchase DJ Seats from Spacial Audio for them would work out very very expensive, whereas RadioDJ is FREE 2) We have had numerous problems with SAM that do not seem exclusive to us: Remote show script keeps dropping out Audio crackling when using SAM On reboot SAM will not connect to the database whether it's Firebird or MySQL After a system restart SAM won't start requiring a complete re-install of SAM Encoders stopping for no reason at all, plus various other issues. I could cope if SAM Broadcaster was free but we paid for this software Which is flaky to say the least 3) SAM keeps freezing when searching for tracks 4) RadioDJ is much more pleasing to the eye 5) RadioDJ looks & sounds much more professional

Firebird Database Sam Broadcaster Pro

Image
SAM Broadcaster Pro comes with Five different options of database to install (MySQL and MariaDB are practically the same thing) Firebird - MariaDB - MySQL - PostgreSQL - MSSQL Firebird appears to be the most unstable database of the options you're given. SAM Broadcaster 2020.2 on Firebird has been crashing every 2-5 days I regularly see users having stability issues using SAM Broadcaster Pro with the Firebird database. I installed SAM Broadcaster with the help of a software engineer We used the Firebird server That worked well for a few days Then SAM wouldn't restart SAM fails more and more now to the point where it crashes at least once/twice a Week Its taking the fun out of my hobby We often see users complaining that Firebird in SAM Broadcaster Pro has crashed on them and that they've lost all their data. I tried installing Firebird for SAM Broadcaster Pro but it didn't work Firebird only allows you to load a maximu

I've Tried Lots of Radio Software

Image
In my 20+ years of being into Internetradio I have tried all sorts of different radio automation software packages. I wish I could remember the name of half of the different pieces of software but here's a few... DRS 2006, SAM Broadcaster, Jazler, Raduga, Zararadio, Winamp (Plus Others) When my interest piqued for Internet radio in 1999 I tested software that was available at the time. I started out as listener at first and discovered Winamp for listening to Shoutcast stations. It was 2001 before I bought my first PC and I set out to discover what Internet radio was all about. One of the Oldies stations I'd discovered was asking for DJ's so I applied and got a weekly 3 hour show. The software I had to use was SAM Broadcaster and that went wrong so often I lost my position on the station. Wether that be encoders buffering or the program freezing the software never worked as it should. I was lucky to get any uptime with SAM Broadcaster
