RadioDJ Stream Title Settings

In RadioDJ free radio automation software you have the ability to control what metadata the listener sees when a song, request or jingle plays.

We regularly get people asking how they can hide the artist & title of a Jingle or track form showing in the stream.

Look under Options>Options>Stream Titles: This is where the magic happens.

You have various track types in RadioDJ

Music = 0
Jingle = 1
Sweeper = 2
Voiceover = 3
Commercial = 4
InternetStream = 5
Other = 6
VDF = 7
Podcast = 8
Request = 9
News = 10
PlaylistEvent = 11
FileByDate = 12
NewestFromFolder = 13
Teaser = 14

You need to select the track type from stream titles and configure the information you want to display on your stream(s)

These are some of the Variables you can find the full list of stream variables inside the Docs folder in RadioDJv2 by opening a .pdf file

$track_id$ = Track's Database ID
$artist$ = Track Artist
$title$ = Track Title
$album$ = Track Album
$year$ = Release year
$duration$ = Track Duration
$track_no$ = Track's Number
$disc_no$ = Track's Disc
$rotation_name$ = Current rotation's name
$rotation_id$ = Current rotation's ID
$station_name$ = Station's Name
$station_slogan$ = Station's Slogan
$request_username$ = Requesters username
$request_message$ = Requesters Message

I have my metadata for music set with $artist - $title$ and it displays like this:

e.g: Bonnie Tyler - Total Eclipse Of The Heart

If you've set your station name and slogan you can use that when a Jingle plays $station_name$ - $station_slogan$ then RadioDJ now playing output text file will only show the Station's Name & Slogan.

e.g: GoldRadio Network - Playing The Best Oldies 24/7

You can even customise the metadata when you play a listener's song request. If you want to you can display the listener's name and message in the stream by setting the stream titles to something like this:

Under track type request you would put these variables $request_username$ - $request_message$

Note: This will only work with songs requested via your website.

We never bother with a listeners request message it would take up up too much space in a player

We set our metadata like this for requests $artist$ - $title$ (Requested by: $request_username$) which then outputs this:

e.g: Aha - Hunting High and Low (Requested by: Fred Bloggs)

There are more stream variables that can be used to display customised information in the now playing text file.

Have a play around until you get the stream titles the way you want them.

The full list of stream variables is too long to post here but they can be found in the "Docs" folder inside the RadioDJ program folder.

Top Tip: When you have your stream variables set to display what you want DON'T forget to click the SAVE button!

We hope this simple guide helps you to understand the various ways you can customise your metadata with RadioDJ.
