I'm sat here editing bookmarks on Chrome and I happened upon the SAM Broadcaster Pro "Read Me" bookmark. I'd link to it but Spacial Audio have blocked reffers from this site. I couldn't help but notice there have been ZERO UPDATES of SAM Broadcaster Pro and Studio since 7th April 2025 No doubt Spacial will have still have been charging the Yearly subscriptions while doing Sweet FA to their software. For some time now a LOT of Antivirus solutions have had issues with the RadioDJ program files. They don't appear to like the way Marius packages the the software and installer. He's obfuscating his code to make it harder for other developers to steal it There are unscrupulous developers who given a chance would steal someones code and then claim it as theirs. If your Antivirus software complains about the program files just tell it to exclude the RadioDJ program folder on the C:\ Drive. I use Windows Defender for my Antivirus and I added the RadioDJ folder to the exclude list before I installed to that folder. Windows Security>>Virus Threat Protection>>Manage settings>>Add Or Remove Exclusions and add RadioDJ to that list. I've had my Windows 11 laptop switched on for a month just to prove a point about Uptime. I set a rotation in 2045 a month ago and left it to its own devices and when I've been listening to it via Bluetooth the audio has been flawless RadioDJ/MariaDB have been Rock Solid for the past 30 days but all good things must come to an end. The GREAT thing about RadioDJ is once setup it will RUN and RUN and then RUN some more You can get great uptime if you choose the right software for your music output. Even if you only use RadioDJ for a 2 hour show once a week on Windows 11 you should be able to get through a live show without any issues. For a long time I tried to get Gapless Audio Playback in various pieces of audio software. Winamp didnt crossfade very well even with the use of SQR Soft Plugins. Sam Broadcaster was questionable for its crossfade sometimes you'd get gaps or a car crash fadeout. MusicMatch Jukebox came close to gapless playback but still wasn't Ideal. Video Lan (VLC) always left gaps between tracks, I tried a host of other audio playback software and I couldn't get gapless audio with them there was always silence between tracks. Step foward RadioDJ I first discovered RDJ in 2010 and ever since then I've had great audio crossfades even with tracks that end suddenly. The only time I haven't had a decent crossfade in RadioDJ is when a Cue Point wasn't set at the beginning or end of a track. Recently there were some major changes to the Database connector in RadioDJ which meant newer versions wouldn't run on versions of MariaDB 10.7 and Older. Which means in order to use versions of RadioDJ 2042 and newer you will need to UPGRADE MariaDB to a newer version. I've been a RadioDJ user since late 2010 after I discovered the software via a Google search. Q: Have you ever found the most perfect piece of music playout software? I've tried LOTS of music playback software over my 20 or so years on the Internet. Winamp, Foobar, Real Player, Windows Media Player, Musicmatch Jukebox, SAM Broadcaster, SAM Party DJ Some pieces of software were OK for playing music and some of them would crash if I added a large folder of music into them. Other Radio Automation Software doesn't Crossfade very well and you end up with a CAR CRASH transition betweeen songs. 2 weeks before Christmas 1990 my house was broken into and Some LOW LIVES Stole my record collection. It was obviously well planned by the perpetrators of the crime because they knew exactly what they were after when they kicked in the back door They never touched my Brothers PUNK collection which was more valuable. Seen more and more users who've recently had issues working RadioDJ alongside Oracle MySQL (8) server. I personally think Oracle MySQL lost their way a LONG time ago. I Wrote A While Back about this very issue it seems MySQL8 still doesn't work properly. A soon as people switched to MariaDB their issues went away (Strange That) Marius carried out out some tests a while back and its quite clear that MySQL 8 takes longer to process queries compared to MariaDB. I can think of a few reasons WHY you might want to choose an alternative to SAM Broadcaster Pro or Studio 1) Lousy Customer Support: When SAM Broadcaster goes wrong (and it will) don't expect to get much help from Spacial Audio: Even the forums and social media accounts were staffed by people who didnt really care about the software. Most people know I dislike a program called SAM Broadcaster Pro made by Spacial Audio Solutions LLC I gave SAM Broadcaster all the chances in the world over a good 10 year period.
